For my final assignment in this course I have to be a “discussion leader” for this particular chapter. The goal is to talk about and discuss whatever the chosen
topic is. I chose to explain and discuss the part of the chapter titled ‘Evolutionary Cognitive Psychology”. We have the option to do a video presentation or a
1000 word essay, and I chose the essay, however, it is supposed to be in the style of a presentation.
The most important thing is that we are to reference one scholarly research article while discussing the chapter and it must be related to the topic (I HAVE
ALREADY FOUND A RESEARCH ARTICLE FOR YOU). Also, you must make one real world reference (e.g., news story, magazine article, blog,
etc.).
THESE ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS about this assignment. I will post the instructions below as well as a screen shots of the instructions, the
section from the chapter that you are to write about, as well as the PDF for the research article I found. I must note, the research article talks about adaptive
memory and survival and the chapter in the book about the topic also discusses adaptive memory and survival so I would use the article in reference to that
if you could. Since you are to make ONE real world reference, I will request you cite at least one outside reference. Aside from that, the only other sources
that can be cited are what I provided to you. However, I can do those citations myself. If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
**INSTRUCTIONS BELOW FROM PROFESSOR**
“Write a 1000-word paper that summarizes what you would have presented had you recorded yourself.
No matter which format you choose, in each presentation students will need to identify one scholarly research article and make at least one real world
connection (e.g., news story, magazine article, blog, etc.). Discussion leaders should briefly summarize the key aspects of the research and real-world
application. Leaders should focus on describing the connections between research and real life. Students are encouraged to discuss connections to their
own lives, course materials, and/or to the field of Psychology in general.
Discussion leaders should post their content on the Canvas discussion board, and students are encouraged to
comment, ask questions, make applications, etc. Discussion leaders should post their content by 11:59PM on the
day/topic that they selected at the beginning of the semester.
This assignment is designed to give you agency in creating your discussion-leading session. The goals are as
follows: 1) Your discussion should be grounded in a topic within the course, 2) Your discussion should be grounded
in a research article on the topic you have selected, and 3) You should apply the topic to reality in some tangible
way. How you accomplish these goals is up to you – do not be afraid to be creative! I hope that this can be both
informative and fun. Please let me know if you have any questions about this assignment.
