MLA Documentation required (in-text citations)
Source requirement: One source minimum, Eating Animals
Background: We have done this before, but this time, the argument is much larger and more complex.
Prompt: Analyze the text’s argument
The Text: Eating Animals by Jonathan Foer
Your Task: You need to demonstrate to me that you can accurately and adequately represent an argument.
Accuracy means that your summary doesn’t misrepresent the argument. Adequate means that your
representation is thorough enough that it includes all the major parts of the argument; the major parts of the
argument are its main claim and the main pieces of evidence and reasoning that are provided to support
that main claim. Minor parts of the argument can be left out of your analysis.
The analysis you write for this assignment will be turned into a five-page essay for the next assignment.
What you will be doing here is sketching out the argument, focusing on the main ways Jonathan Foer tries
to support his claim. Since this is a brief summary of the argument, a lot of specific details may be left out.
In the next assignment, you will be developing your analysis in more detail.
